COLUMBUS: Ohio State runner Anthony Cole won the 60 m at Buckeye Invitational with good time of 6.69.

COLUMBIA: At USC Gamecock Invitiational a nice battle for women´s 55 m win happened. Kya Brookins was able to beat 200 m world leader Shalonda Solomon in finals 6.76 and 6.80. Both run better in semis with 6.73 and 6.78. The quickest time is second best in the current season. Amber Campbell managed another 24mplus win in Weight Throw with 24.16 m.

FLAGSTAFF: Former Shot Put champion John Godina tested his shape at Southwest Classic, his winning mark was 19.63 cm. Very fast 400 m by Greg Nixon 46.14, but aided by 2000 m altitude and 300 m long track.

ANN ARBOR: Pierre Vinson wins the 60 m at Harold Silverston Invitational with solid 6.68 and Jeff Porter runs the 60mH in 7.78. Canadian high jumper Nicole Forrester achieved 188 before travelling to Europe for next series of meets (Stockholm, Paris) and only very closely missed 193 cm. “ I jumped 1.88m easy and just missed the next height, 1.93m they were all good jumps, that should have been cleared, but I kept just catching it with my legs. But, I still thought it was good jumping because I was feeling just awful this week, “ said Forrester who bettered this season her best already to 195 cm.

OUDTSHOORN (RSA): Last years African champion Hardus Pienaar won the javelin with very good mark of 82.96 m. Current World junior champion Robert Oosthuizen was second with solid 78.35 m. In hot temperatures at 4th Yellow Pages Ultimate series sprints were blocked by strong head-wind. SYDNEY: Australian media are reporting that British star Becky Lyne was not running on Saturday meet in Sydney because she suffered a minor calf strain on her final training run around Sydney Harbour on Friday morning.

MOSKVA: President of Russian Athletics Federation Valentin Balakhnichev confirmed to russian media that the most powerful european nation in athletics will send 32 men and 34 women to European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. It is mostly a squad composed by new names. Champions like Isinbayeva, Lebedeva, Silnov, Rybakov are all missing but that was reported already before the indoor season started. Still world leaders like High Jumper Ivan Ukhov (239), heptathlete Aleksandr Pogorelov (6095), Yevgeniya Polyakova (60 m) and Irina Khudorozhkina (Shot Put) are the gold medal favourites. From 8 individual Russian European Champions in 2005 in Madrid only two are going to defend their titles – Igor Pavlov in PV and Anna Chicherova in HJ.
