Naimova world lead 7.13 at Balkan Champs

ATHENS (PEANIA): Last years World junior champion at 100 m and 200 m Tezdzhan Naimova from Bulgaria (will be 20 in May) achieved the most impressive mark during the 14th Balkan Indoor Championships in Athens. She won the 60 m in new world lead 7.13, her best from early February was 7.22. EME news learned that she is planning to compete in Birmingham and that means she would be a favourite for gold. Great duel at 800 m was won by Romanian Mihaela Neacsu 1:59.82 followed by Teodora Kolarova from Bulgaria 2:00.07 and another Romanian Liliana Popescu 2:00.60. Kolarova was later winning her heat in 400 m 52.71 and was overall second. Hurdles olympic medallist Ionela Manolache won the other race setting even faster time 52.63. Very solid also the 570 in Pole Vault by Bulgarian Ilian Efremov. Nevin Yanit missed her turkish national record at 60 m Hurdles only by 0.04. Second placed Elton Bitincka at men´s 60 m Hurdles registered new national record for Albania. Romanian men and women won the nations scoring.

Traditional fast winter walking in Russia 

ADLER (RUS): At winter Russian U23 walking championships the young generation showed its potential. All three winning marks in main categories are so far the bests of the year. Goteborg silver medallist Valeriy Borchin first time in his career walked under 1:20 at 20 km. Current U23 European Champion from 2005 Igor Yerokhin also bettered his best to 1:19:21. Only 21 years old Vladimir Kanaykin won the usual winter event 35 km in 2:26:09, but was behind his last years world best 2:21:31 from the same event. Alena Nartova was the surprise winner of women 20 km race also in new best 1:28:31. This event was mainly Russian selection for European Cup in May in Leamington,GBR.
